With Paul and myself both working for Comms Express (UK's Leading reseller of networking equipment), we are lucky enough to get the chance to work on some great new projects. This project in particular was a chance for me to broaden my experience in working with Design for Print and using Adobe inDesign.
The Brief was to design a leaflet aimed at the education/public sector advertising the company's product range of Network Switches, Cables and Data Server Racks, specifically for big network communication brands such as Cisco, APC, Netgear and HP.
As this was to be the first in a line of brochures/data sheets being made to available to Comms Express's customer base, I deemed it vital to establish a design & layout for the company's own branded product pages that could then be used in future print work projects. This would help enhance the company's branding as a whole as well as provide continuity throughout all of the company's advertising/marketing material. Alternatively for the big brand pages Cisco, APC, Avatar and HP I was required to consult each of the brands current marketing material in order to design pages that represented each of the brands and their products accurately by using relevant graphics, colour schemes and layouts.
Coming primarily from a Web Design based background, I thrive at the chance to broaden my experience in other areas of design, such as Design for Print as it requires the designer to approach the project from a different perspective as your are dealing with a different media outlet.

New Wadsworth Ltd Quantum Booklet
Wadsworth Ltd is one of the biggest resellers of Quantum products, one of the leading UK cabling brands. Quantum are a networking communications company that offer products including cabling, modules and Patch Panels in a range of different specifications. The guys at Wadsworth Ltd wanted to put together a small brochure/handbook of the Quantum products that they offer. This would not only act as a hand out to potential customers but also as a guide/reference to the sales team when dealing with customers. The booklet itself would include product images, specifications, diagrams as well as the advertisement of Quantum 25 year product warranty and certification. It was my responsibility as the designer to establish a brief with the guys at Wadsworth, to determine what content and images were to be used and to determine a layout that would best utilise the Quantum products that Wadsworth wanted to present. With the design & layout along with all content ultimately coming together using adobe inDesign the finished product was scheduled for printing in an A4 size format. The finished product being a booklet that represented Quantum’s branding but also presented a clean layout that utilised the product images and content.Feel free to download the booklet to review the final product

New re-Design for Comms Express
Last year we were required to completely re-design & re-develop the Comms Express website, with myself being tasked with designing a new modern & fresh layout that enabled users to easily navigate the website and cleanly presented products and their information to users.
Paul was responsible for re-developing the websites functionality the priority being the Add to Cart and Checkout processes and simplifying them so that users could checkout with their purchases within a few clicks. Another area that we focused on was to improve the optimisation of the site trying to push for better organic results in search engines. Since going live with the re-design in early 2010 the company has seen incredible growth, with the website making up a large percentage of the results achieved.
